of a four month old baby at a southeast Iowa daycare good evening I’m Dylan Austin and that is where we begin tonight court documents released today shedding new light on the charges against the daycare worker who was supervising that boy the documents allege Laura McDowell left four month old Jack Rowland on his stomach for an extended period of time contrary to state standards investigators allege McDowell’s actions led to Jack’s death McDowell was the supervisor and lead caretaker at raising him up daycare in Donaldson Iowa when jack was found unresponsive on December 3rd he died eight days later court documents state that McDowell was the sole person responsible for supervising Jack from the time he was put on the floor to the time when he was found unresponsive without appropriate supervision and attentiveness required of a four month old state officials also say the daycare was over the legal caretaker to infant ratio at the time of the incident other headlines tonight a hannibal woman has been arrested after assaulting another woman with a knife according to police around 2:30 Wednesday morning officers were called to the scene on Vermont Street where a 30 year old woman reported she was assaulted by another woman officers arresting crystal Cloyd seen here and took her to the Marion County Jail on a 24-hour hold Cloyd charged with first degree assault armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon the victim was taken to the hospital Illinois State Police say a trooper shot while executing a search warrant in East st. Louis this morning it happened around 5:30 a.m. where there was an exchange of gunfire at the residence the trooper was hit in that exchange the trooper is a 10-year veteran of the ISP sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital well it is a homeowner’s worst nightmare imagine the home sitting right next to yours slowly falling apart over the years with no one doing anything about it even after you’ve asked the owners nicely that’s what some Hannibal residents say they’re facing tonight and they want to know when the city will take care of it w g ems Frank Healy reports from Hannibal ample city officials say the house behind me here is just one of over 50 buildings they’re currently looking into but for residents here often North Lewis they say it’s an eyesore that’s been impacting their property value for a long time my husband and every neighbor around here can vouch it’s been over well over 20 that it’s been here and dilapidated by itself Candace Clements says it goes beyond just broken windows falling apart siding and unkept yard they’ve had to call animal control to have pests removed multiple times it’s really close next to our house we’ve taken a lot of pride we take and put a lot of money in our yards we we try to keep things nice around here and it’s just sitting next to this is just debilitating to our property value here city officials say when dealing with condemned properties like this one it’s a difficult process that can end up being expensive due to the fact that each building needs to be tested for asbestos which makes it harder and more expensive to tear down they don’t they leave it for the city to do and it’s ridiculous for them they have to pick it up and have to take care of it and everything when they don’t come up here and do it themselves neighbor Rhonda Davis says the owners of properties like this one should have to take responsibility for the mess they’ve caused but she also wishes there was more communication from the city on the process I wish they had more money to do what they’re supposed to be doing it’s age whether God didn’t do it and when they don’t do it it makes a battle on everybody else especially people in the neighborhood for Clinton she wishes the city didn’t have to get involved in the first place but this house definitely what I would like to see done is the honor to take charge of it and get it out of here it’s not fixable city officials say this building here up north lewis has been inspected for asbestos but there’s no word on when the results will come back or when it’s coming down Frank Healy WGN news
