Loving Home | Kim Churchill | Playing For Change | Live Outside

He came from fire and war and hate to land
upon our peacefully soft door. And that white flag he flew led him to run
forever more. He searched long and hard oh looking on and
trying to find some destiny. oh In the end I’m sure he’ll find that
home is where the hearts set free. Oh ladadadum, I said hey, loving home
Thousands of years went by, he found so many different ways to think
He searched for a way in life and a place where love was distinct. See finding home was pretty hard, cause most seemed
to live within their heads. In the end I’m sure he’ll find that home
is where the heart finds strength. I said hey, loving home, I said hey, loving
home. Loving home. He finds happiness in walking on, like the
swagman free. For it might not be a book that makes you happy or a god above
to see. If finds happiness in walking on, like the
swagman free. For whatever sets your soul on fire helps
to keep your heart at ease. I said hey loving home, I said hey, loving
home. I said hey loving home, loving home loving
home, home, home.

  1. There's something about this song, how his guitar and voice inter-lap and overlay with each other that brings such a peaceful silence to my chest, it's like all that matters is breath and nothing can hurt or worry me.

  2. It's been so long  that ve've had a real musician like this one in the new generation.

  3. While he did perform this song for PFC, he originally wrote it on his album, "with sword and shield", which is great.  Only downside is that the PFC version I like a lot better than the studio one, but PFC hasn't released it on any of their collections =(

  4. Part of our “PFC Live Outside” series, this video features the song, “Loving Home,” performed by Kim Churchill in the Blue Mountains of Australia.

  12. I crossed paths with this talented young singer/song writer playing one of the last gigs of the 2011 Fairbridge Folk Festival; clearly doing the trap run around Australia on the back of winning the 2009 National Youth Folk Artist of the Year. Of all the performers seen over the 3 days, his is the only one that I remember. His session breathed and heaved with his utter immersion in his songs and the set — with Loving Home being the standout. Naturally YouTube helped me get up to speed quick, though there was lots less 6 years ago, which were fleshed out with CD purchases. Having decamped from Oz to the UK for the decade of 2000s I missed the rise and rise of The John Butler Trio (to whom similarities exist) so I actually became aware of Kim Churchill first. It is great to see him keeping faith with his vision and steadily building a fan base.
