How can I get my landlord to fix disrepair? | advice | Shelter

I would first put your landlord on
notice about your disrepair issue. So I would write to the landlord,
explaining what the situation is always send the letter by recorded delivery,
so there is proof that the has been received and always keep a copy
of the letter as well. Now, the law states that certain legal
repairs must be returned within a reasonable time. Now unfortunately there is no
legal definition what a ‘reasonable period of time’ is by I would say if it has been quite some
time since you’ve reported the disrepair and the landlord is failing to act, to
then contact the Environmental Health Department of the council.
