(BROOKE) A BREAKING STORY WE’RE FOLLOWING RIGHT NOW AT 6-O’CLOCK.. AN APARTMENT FIRE IN GREENWOOD.. FIREFIGHTERS GOT THE CALL AROUND 2 ABOUT A POSSIBLE MULCH FIRE AT MERIDIAN OAKS.. NEAR 135 AND WEST MAIN. (MIKE) WHEN THEY ARRIVED.. THE APARTMENT BUILDING WAS IN FLAMES. LIBBY HIGNITE HEARD ABOUT THE FIRE FROM HER ROOMMATE. ((“MY ROOMMATE CALLED ME WHILE I WAS AT WORK, SHE FACETIMED ME, AND SAID EVERYTHING WE HAVE IS GONE. IT’S ALL GONE, YOU NEED TO COME HOME NOW. SO I GOT HOME AND THEY SHUT THE ENTRANCE DOWN, I PARKED ACROSS THE STREET WALKED OVER AND I’VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT. THE WHOLE BUILDING WAS JUST GONE. MY WINDOW’S BUSTED OUT, YOU CAN SEE MY ROOM.”)) BEN FLOYD WAS DRIVING BY WHEN HE SAW THE FLAMES. HE GOT TO THE SCENE BEFORE FIREFIGHTERS.. AND WENT THROUGH THE BUILDING.. KNOCKING ON DOORS TELLING PEOPLE TO GET OUT. HE THEN WENT DOWN THE STREET.. BOUGHT SEVERAL CASES OF WATER.. AND BROUGHT IT BACK FOR THE FIREFIGHTERS. FIREFIGHTERS SAY THEY HELPED 3 PEOPLE OUT OF THE BUILDING.. ALONG WITH SOME PETS. THERE ARE NO REPORTS OF ANY SERIOUS INJURIES. INVESTIGATORS HAVE NOT YET DETERMINED WHAT STARTED THE FIRE.
